A recipe from my personal kitchen!

ROAST TURKEY WITH APPLES AND ONIONS

I (14 Lb Organic Turkey)

2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup chopped fresh sage

2 cloves garlic,  and 1/2  cup finely chopped  raw walnuts

1 tablespoon sea salt

1/4 cup rasins

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

dash lemon pepper, and  ground cinnamon

5 crisp apples, such as pink lady or Fujii, cored and quartered

5 red onions, finely chopped

Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Wash and rub turkey with lemon juice, brush skin with butter.

In a small bowl, combine sage, garlic,salt, lemon pepper. Loosen skin over breast and work sage mixture under skin, place mixture in cavity of the turkey. Tie legs together, place in a large roasting pan, roast 20 minutes. Lower temperature to 350, bast often, tent and roast slowly for 2 hours, or lower temp to 300 and cook up to 3 hours.

Fry giblets  and neck lightly in oil

add water, bring to boil and simmer with  fresh Rosemary on low flame

Add  half cup, celery and 3 green onions, sliced thin

use turkey drippings and add to gravy 

cook on stove top low till gravy thickens 

Let turkey sit; and cool 15-20 min before carving

Serve with  buttered corn, 

Holiday yams and or butternut squash and set freshly boiled   sweet cranberry sauce aside to cool for turkey topping.

Serve warm Apple cider, or sparkling grape juice with meal or toast with a white  delicous wine

Not too many of you are aware  I was in the Dental field since sweet  sixteen, and a Lab Technician; I've been hearing so many complaints of dental caries and staining of the teeth, lately.

Here are a few tips to follow-

The effects of poor dental care can range from tooth decay to gingivitis, and even to more serious problems like periodontitis; tooth and bone loss. In fact, 1 in 2 adults has gingivitis, and may not even know it. Fortunately, proper dental care, including cleaning teeth correctly and regularly, can help prevent most of these problems.

If you don't clean your teeth well every day, you're putting yourself at risk for tooth decay; period.

 Signs of decay include visible holes in your teeth, pain when you bite and sensitive gums and  feelings of pain in your teeth.

When the carbohydrates in the food and drinks that you consume aren't cleaned from the teeth regularly, they provide fuel for cavity-causing bacteria. These bacteria can start forming plaque on teeth soon after eating, so if you're a frequent snacker, you may want to clean your teeth more often than twice a day. The truth is, bacteria are almost always present in the mouth, and frequent cleaning—and limiting sugary foods—may help prevent decay.

Cleaning your teeth often and using dental washes, floss and  a waterpick massage, can help remove the plaque from your teeth -

and help prevent the build-up of plaque bacteria in your mouth.Tooth staining teas, (stain teeth more than coffee),  believe me, that was an eye opener! all berries, red sauces, red wine,  and artifical soda and food dyes stain the teeth, rinse right away just after, and use a straw  to avoid  permanent staining.

Cracking the case of HYPERPIGMENTATION (Age/Sun Spots)

Much of the world’s population is considered Fitzpatrick type IV–VI. 

 By 2050, according to the U.S. Census Bureau in 2000, 50% of Americans will be of darker-skinned racial backgrounds. One of the most common skin conditions in higher Fitzpatrick clients is   that big word called ... hyperpigmentation.  dark spots on the skin's surface;  from aging and the  harmful rays of the sun.

Although many of the popular treatments performed on a regular basis on Caucasians may be well-tolerated by clients with darker skin, special considerations need to be taken to ensure positive treatment outcomes for such clients. A deeper understanding of the causes of hyperpigmentation, and of the myriad of ingredients available for its treatment, will help clients understand what may cause and correct it.

Skin discolorations

Within any ethnic background, a variety of Fitzpatrick skin types can be identified. Darker skin can commonly be seen in Hispanics, Latinos, Africans, African-Americans, Caribbeans, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, East Indians, Pakistanis, Eskimos, Koreans, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipinos, Japanese, Thai, Cambodians, Malaysians, Indonesians and Aleuts, according to dermatologist Pearl Grimes, MD.¹ With this broad global representation in mind, we can  should expect to see an increase in clients of one or mixed racial backgrounds with darker skin.

The most apparent difference in the skin of those from different ethnicities is, of course, the color, although there are also differences in skin thickness, vascularity, and predispositions to certain skin conditions and diseases. Hyperpigmentation can occur due to UV exposure, cutaneous trauma or hormonal fluctuations. Studies by dermatologist Susan Taylor in 2005 demonstrate that up to 86% of women of Latino, Asian and African descent are concerned about skin discolorations.²

Melanogenesis and skin color

Melanin is the complex molecule that is responsible for the pigment in the body; specifically eyes, hair and skin. Melanin works to protect by reducing the penetration of UV rays into the skin and, even more importantly, into the nuclei of cells where DNA resides. Those with both dark and light skin have the same number of melanocytes—the cells responsible for melanogenesis or melanin production—although their level of responsiveness differs. Clients whose genetic heredity is that of global regions with extreme UV exposure have melanocytes that will, out of protective necessity, instigate the process of melanin deposition much more quickly than someone with lighter skin. Some clients with mixed genetic heritage may have lighter skin, but still have a greater predisposition for hyperpigmentation than a typical Fitzpatrick skin type I or II.

As a result of inflammation or hormonal fluctuations, the following process is stimulated.

Microdermabrasion is performed to lighten the spots by resurfacing the skin and depending on the sensitivity of the skin, I add a peel for additional renewal. I like to finish off the Treatment with Photo Lite Therapy to calm and soothe as well as attack the Hyperpigment process from the Dermis out.I offer a Bleaching gel I send the client home with to use daily, in between facials for optium results. please note when having the series done; one must know that Avoiding the sun and exercise directly afterwards is strongly suggested and must be avoided at all cost.
